PRACTICAL INFORMATION:

To keep your clothing beautiful for  ever, we advise to wash as little as possible! Sometimes it is enough to freshen- up your clothes by simply hanging them outside in the open air.Or if not possible hanging them inside in the bathroom (Shower area). Please use no powder detergents, but rather liquid detergents!Use as little detergent as possible! For both the clothing as well as the environment : LESS IS MORE!In case your washing machine is no older than 5 years we advise to disregard hand washing, but use your cold wool or cold soft program in your washing machine. If you do decide to go hand washing, please acknowledge the fact that what one experiences as being lukewarm water, often is far warmer than the 30 degrees.!! Always use therefore a thermometer to be absolutely sure of the right temperature!. It is impossible to be accurate as a human being by trying to do this by hand.Always dissolve the liquid detergent optimal in the water . Wash briefly, do not leave the clothing in too long, rinse quickly, don’t shrub or wrinkle.Washing by hand needs to be done swiftly, in order to avoid shrinkage, colorchange and the “running of colours”.Tumble drying is absolutlely forbidden with silk or wool products. For all other fabrics we advise to always wash them inside out.Use the tumble dry as few as possible, handwoven clothing can be simply hanged out for drying on a hanger! This is nice for both your wallet as the environment. Knits should be laid flat on a towel.Never hang out clothing to dry in the sun!Never treat stains locally! In other words do not shrub them seperatly or use any special detergents for this.Simply put some liquid detergent on the spots and put the clothing directly in the machine. If the spots do not go out after that, than please use a special detergent. But than also use the same strategy. Never let detergent soak in long on fabrics, this to prevent a difference in colour of the fabric! Silk is best to be washed with special silk detergent. By the way babyshampoo is a good  alternative Always read the care label closely beforre one starts to iron. Here you will find the correct temperature on which to iron, and maybe more important, if the clothing piece is to be ironed at all! The golden rule applies here aswell:

The least you iron the better for both product, environment and wallet! Hanging out nicely after the washing may work as good as ironing.

Please note when ironing with steam, that steam is over 100 degrees! Ironing with steam is only possible when the washing label indicates an iron symbol with 3 dots!.Iron your clothes always inside out, to avoid shine Marks or iron Marks.Iron woolen and silks (when indicated it is possible to do so on the care label) preferably with a damp cloth under the iron, or with a Teflon sole platet.Iron cotton garments always when still a bit moist.

PROBLEMS WITH FABRICS:

PILLING:

Pilling has nothing to do with the bad or cheap quality of the garments, but is simply a characteristic of the fabric or knit.

Pilling can occur through rubbing or  scrathing woolly and hairy and voluminous fabric.

In reality this means it can occur through washing or wearing garments.

By doing so the “ hairy bits “ will tangle and great a small fuzy ball.

These small balls are mostly very easy to get rid off, which we call de-pilling.

By using an anti-pilling comb some fabrics can be de-pilled. Also it is possible to find anti-pilling devices on the market; you can get further information on this in our shop, or by contacting us through the website.

SHRINKING AND FELTING OF GARMENTS

Especially garments which contains wool can shrink and felt as a result of:

Not using the wool program 30º degrees (when stated in the care label)Not using the wool program Coldwash (when stated in the care label)Washing too hot: above 30º degrees.Leaving too long in the water, both cold and lukewarm. The use of too much soap or detergent.Combinations of these factors.

Our advise is, that unless it is stated that you may wash the garment yourself, to choose always the wool program cold on your machine, and using special woolwash liquid (like woolite), in the right prescribed quantity that is.
